Golf 'B' Team Claims Fourth at George Washington Invite

ISSUE, Md. – The University of Virginia men’s golf “B” team finished fourth of 16 teams at the George Washington Invitational on Monday afternoon at the Swan Point Yacht and Country Club.
Yale claimed the team title with a 602 (+26). Host George Washington was second with a 614 (+38), while Lehigh finished third with a 617 (+41).
The Cavaliers followed by just two strokes with a 619 (+43) after carding a 308 in the second round.
Individually, Yale’s Chris Eckerle took home medalist honors with a one-over 145. The Colonial’s Thomas Blackvoort finished second by one stroke with a 146 (+2). American’s Kaplan was third with a 149 (+5).
UVa senior Shivin Kwatra (New Delhi, India) recorded his second Top 10 finish of the season, tying for ninth place with a 153 (+9) overall. Junior Thomas Lee (Guttenburg, N.J.) followed by one stroke with a 154 (+10) to tie for 11th place. Freshman Scott McMahon (Austin, Texas) and sophomore Eli Barnes (Bristol, Conn.) each fired a 156 (+12) to tie at 18th. Junior Shep Stevens (Middlebury, Conn.) was 62nd with a 174.
Virginia returns to varsity action on April 12-13 at the Wofford Invitational.
