INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Virginia women’s rowing team’s first varsity eight is ranked sixth in the nation in the first USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division I Varsity Eight Coaches Poll of the 2002 season.

UVa’s first varsity eight has won three of four races this spring. The Cavaliers have beaten San Diego State, Duke and Michigan. Virginia lost to Ohio State.

The University of Washington is ranked first in the poll followed by Brown, Ohio State, Princeton, Yale, Virginia, Syracuse, Michigan, Southern California and Harvard.

Four Virginia crews compete this weekend (April 6-7) at the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, Calif. UVa’s first varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity eight and novice eight crews will compete in the regatta.
