The University of Virginia hosted its annual Lou Onesty/Milton Abramson meet today, Saturday April 13th and both the men’s and women’s teams were victorious as the women scored 200.83 points while the men edged Rutgers 140-125.17. 2002 All-American Kiamesha Otey (Quinton, VA- New Kent) was a winner in the 100m (11.90) and the long jump (20’7.25″). Her jump provisionally qualifies her for NCAAs. Otey received her All-American honors in the long jump where she placed 5th in the nation. Otey leads the team in the 100m (11.75), 200m (25.17) and the long jump.

Naccole Guinn (Alexandria, VA-Thomas Jefferson) won both the 100m hurdles and the triple jump, and she placed fourth in the long jump (18’0.25″). Guinn, a 2001 All-American in the triple jump and school record holder, leads the team this season with her time of 14.22 in the hurdles and jump of 41’0.50″. Eliese Mitchell (Narvon, PA- Gardon Spot) took first place in the hammer (164’1.00″) and second in the shot put (46’2.00″) and the discus (150′ 11″). Mitchell holds the school record in the hammer (184’10”) and currently ranks 25th in the nation for that event. Teammate Inhar Chong (Fairfax, VA- Fairfax) threw for a personal best of 155′ 6″ in the discus, winning the event after tossing another personal best of 163’8″ in the hammer which took second. Caroline Harvey (Mechanisville, VA- Atlee) earned second in the 100m (12.22), third in the long jump (19’0.25″) and fifth in the triple jump (38’2.75″)

Jarrett Hagwood (Martinsville, VA- Laurel, fourth year) led the men’s team in the sprinting and jumps by winning the long jump (23’8.25″). Hagwood also placed third in the 110m high hurdles (14.21). He currently leads the team in both hurdle events and the long jump.

First year Mike Riso (Charlottesville, VA- Monticello) won the high jump with a season best jump of 6’9.00″. Riso was the Virginia High School indoor and outdoor state champion in the high jump. Matt Antunes (Lansdale, PA- North Penn, fourth year) ran a season best time in the 800m (1:50.32) which earned second place. Scott Kimball (Bridgewater, MA- Bridgwater-Ryn) ran for runner-up honors in the 200m (21.53). First years Pat Slattery (Flander, NJ- Mt. Olive) and Trumaine Pendleton (Southampton, NY-Governor’s School) took runner-up honors in the steeplechase (9:32:02) and triple jump (46’6.00″) respectively. JD Murdock (Ridgewood, NJ- Ridgewood) threw for a season best of 209’9″ in the javelin, which earned third place.
