The UVa women’s tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision at N.C. State on Saturday afternoon. With one match remaining on its 2002 regular season slate, the Cavaliers are 11-8 and 2-5 in the ACC.

N.C. State claimed two of the doubles matches by identical 9-8 scores with the winner being decided in the breaker. The Wolfpack claimed the doubles point and later clinched the match with a Myrna Bawano win at No. 2 singles over Jennifer Tuchband.

Henriette Williams won her third match in a row, as she defeated Katrina Gildemeister, 6-0, 6-1. Williams improves to 10-7 on the season, and leads the team with four wins in ACC matches.

Senior co-captains Amy O’Donnell and Christine Kim both won in singles and doubles. O’Donnell picked up her 14th win of the year, as she defeated Nicholls at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-3. O’Donnell’s three ACC wins are second on the team behind Williams. Kim won her second consecutive match, as she defeated Danielle Staddelman, 7-5, 4-6, 6-0, at No. 6 singles. Kim has six victories on the season, and now two in ACC matches. O’Donnell and Kim teamed at No. 3 doubles to defeat Staddelmann and Loni Worsley, 8-6, for their sixth win of the season.

The Cavaliers close their regular season tomorrow with a 12 p.m. match at Wake Forest, before competing in the ACC Championships next weekend.
