The Virginia women’s and men’s team finished sixth at the ACC Outdoor Championships. Curtrell Frye (Columbia, SC, Irmo) led the women’s team with a third place finish and All-ACC honors in the heptathlon. Frye’s performance of 4706 points is a personal best and betters her 2000 All-ACC performance in the heptathlon. She also finished seventh in the triple jump (12.17m). Jarrett Hagwood (Martinsville, VA, Laurel) ran a 14.13 in the 110m HH, which is a season best and a third place All-ACC finish. Hagwood, a multi-event athlete, also scored in the long jump (4th, 7.39m), and the 400m IH (5th, 53.27). He was All-ACC in the 2002 indoor season in the long jump and 60m HH.

Kiamesha Otey (Quinton, VA, New Kent) scored in the 100m and 200m today after winning and setting an ACC meet record yesterday in the long jump. Otey placed sixth in the 100m (11.85) and eighth in the 200m (24.10). She has automatically qualified for NCAA in the long jump with an outstanding jump of 21’5.50″. Eliese Mitchell (Narvon, PA, Garden Spot) placed seventh in the shot put (13.90m). Mitchell is the ACC Champion in the discus and finished fourth in the hammer.
