CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia softball team will host 21st-ranked Florida State Tuesday (April 30) in an Atlantic Coast Conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. at The Park. The doubleheader marks the final home games for UVa’s Erin Allinder (Norco, Calif./Norco), Kelly McCabe (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin), and Kristen Dennis (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa Canyon). The doubleheader will also serve as StrikeOut Cancer Day. StrikeOut Cancer Day is a project created by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for schools to raise money to donate to their local American Cancer Society.

Virginia enters its final doubleheader of the season with a 44-18 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the ACC. The Cavaliers have won six of their last seven games. Florida State which is ranked 21st in the nation, stands at 43-14 overall and 4-0 in the conference. FSU has won four consecutive games and 12 of its last 13. The Seminoles lead the all-time series with UVa 42-13.

After the doubleheader with Florida State, Virginia returns to action May 10-12 at the 2002 ACC Championship, which will be held in Tallahassee, Fla.
