Virginia To Host Fairfield Inn Jefferson Cup Volleyball Tournament Friday And Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia volleyball team will host the 2002 Fairfield Inn Jefferson Cup Volleyball Tournament Friday and Saturday, September 6-7 at University Hall. The Cavaliers will host the College of Charleston, Georgetown and William & Mary in their annual home tournament. Admission to all home UVa volleyball matches is free of charge.

The 2002 version of the tournament opens Friday at 5:00 p.m. with Georgetown playing William & Mary. UVa begins play in the tournament with a 7:00 p.m. match against the College of Charleston. Saturday’s action begins at 9:00 a.m. with Virginia hosting William & Mary. At 11:00 a.m., the College of Charleston plays Georgetown. The evening session begins at 4:00 p.m. with the College of Charleston taking on William & Mary. The tourney concludes with UVa playing Georgetown at 6:00 p.m.

The Cavaliers stand at 2-2 on the season and are coming off a 3-1 (24-30, 31-29, 30-25, 30-28) victory over James Madison on Tuesday, September 3. The Tribe of William & Mary also stands at 2-2 on the season after earning a NCAA bid in 2001. The College of Charleston and Georgetown both stand at 1-2 on the season.
