VIRGINIA LOOKING FOR SECOND WIN: The Cavaliers gained their first win of the season with an exciting 34-21 win over then #22 South Carolina two weeks ago. They go for their second consecutive win, their longest winning streak in nearly a year, this Saturday against the Akron Zips in their annual Homecoming contest.

The Zips lost their home opener last Saturday to Central Michigan 24-17 and are 0-3 this season. This is the first meeting between the two schools.

IT’S HOMECOMING: Akron is the Cavaliers’ opponent this season in their annual Homecoming game. Overall, Virginia has won 11 of its last 13 Homecoming games, including a 31-10 win over Duke last season.

Virginia has a 37-38-2 (.494) record through the years on Homecoming, including a 1-0 record against Mid-American Conference schools. The Cavaliers defeated Ohio 41-7 on Homecoming in 1993.

RADIO: All Virginia games are broadcast on the Virginia Sports Network, originating at WINA/WWWV in Charlottesville. Mac McDonald calls the play-by-play. He is joined in the broadcast booth by Frank Quayle, the 1968 ACC Football Player of the Year and one of 50 players named to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team. Jed Williams provides sideline analysis.

TELEVISION: Saturday’s game will not be televised.
