KAHUKU, Hawaii – The defending champion Virginia men’s golf team stands fourth after the first day of action at the Hawaii Fall Classic on Monday.

UNLV shot an eight-under 568 to hold a five-stroke lead over Tennessee, who stands second with a 573 (-3). South Carolina is third at 577 (+1). The Cavaliers shot an even 288 in the second round to card a 587 (+11) on the day.

Individually, Tennessee’s David Skinns fired a six-under 138 to stand first. UNLV’s Ryan Moore and J.C. Deacon and San Francisco’s Robert Frye are tied for second with a 141 (-3) each. Tennessee’s Ross McGowan is fifth with a 143 (-1).

Cavalier senior Thomas Lee (Gluttenburg, N.J.) and freshman Eamon McLoughlin (Amityville, N.Y.) are tied for 13th with a 146 (+2). In just his third collegiate meet, McLoughlin fired a career-low par 72 in the opening round. Junior Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) follows by one stroke with a 147 (+3) after shooting a one-under, season-low 71 in the second round. Senior Justin Goodhue (Glastonbury, Conn.), who shot a two-under, season-low 70 in the second round, stands tied for 26th with a 148 (+4). Freshman Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) stands 71st with a 157 (+13).

The final round of Hawaii Fall Classic tees off at 8 a.m. (Hawaii time) on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in Kahuku, Hawaii.
