CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP)Travis Watson scored 21 points and grabbed acareer-high 20 rebounds to lead Virginia past Wofford 87-65 on Thursday.

It was the first time a Virginia player had at least 20 points and 20rebounds in a game since Ralph Sampson had 33 points and 21 rebounds againstN.C. State on Jan. 12, 1983.

Watson has averaged 19 points per game since returning from an ankle injuryagainst Georgetown on Dec. 28.

The win was also the 200th non-conference victory for Virginia in 37 yearsat University Hall. The Cavaliers have a 200-29 record against non-ACC teams inthe building.

Freshman Derrick Byars had 17 points and Jermaine Harper 11 for theCavaliers (9-2), who have won six straight. Keith Jenifer added seven points,eight rebounds and eight assists.

Lee Nixon had 16 for Wofford (4-6), which was playing its seventh game ofthe season against an ACC, Big East or SEC opponent.

The Cavaliers were 7-of-12 from 3-point range and shot 55 percent from thefloor in the first half. Virginia led by as many as 19 in the half and took a47-34 advantage into intermission.

The Cavaliers open ACC play against N.C. State in Raleigh, N.C., on Sunday.
