GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia freshman Deidra Chatman (Richmond, Calif.) earned Atlantic Coast Conference co-Rookie of the Week honors, ACC officials announced on Monday.

She shares her first weekly honor with North Carolina’s La’Tangela Atkinson.

Chatman came off the bench and provided huge support in UVa’s two ACC wins last week. Against Georgia Tech on Thursday, the 6-6 center netted a career-high 11 points, career-high five rebounds, and career-high two blocks in 16 minutes of action.

In Sunday’s win over Maryland, Chatman had four points and three boards while swatting a career-best three blocks. In 13 games, Chatman has averaged 2.2 ppg and 1.5 rpg.

Virginia (7-9, 2-4 ACC) travels to Florida State (11-4, 3-1 ACC) on Thursday, Jan. 23 for a 7 p.m. contest. The Cavaliers return home to University Hall on Sunday, Jan. 26 to host Georgetown in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
