Tallahassee, Fla. – Virginia Women’s Basketball suffered a 55-46 lost on Thursday.

Virginia stands 7-10 overall and 2-5 in the ACC, while Florida State improved to 13-4 overall and 5-1 in the league.

“We weren’t executing very well,” said Virginia head coach Debbie Ryan. “I thought we took some ill-advised shot.

Virginia jumped out to a 7-point lead, 9-2, but Florida State tied the game twice and took the lead at the half, 24-22.

The Seminoles went ahead by as many as 10, 48-38, with under four minutes to go.

Sophomore Brandi Teamer (Joliet, Ill.) led Virginia with 14 points while Cherrise Graham (Conshohocken, Pa.) added 11 points. Graham shot a perfect 4-4 from the line to increase her school record to 22 consecutive-made free throws.

“We’re a great team at home,” said Teamer. “We need to carry that over to the road.”

For the Seminoles, three players had 10 points each, as Trinetta Moore added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Overall FSU out-rebounded UVA 43-24.

“The rebounding tonight was a difference in the game,” said Ryan.

Virginia hosts Georgetown on Sunday, January 26 at 2 p.m. at University Hall. Charlottesville’s WINA Radio (1070 AM) broadcasts each UVa game live with Jed Williams and Myron Ripley calling the action.
