Men's Golf Finishes 9th in Rice Intercollegiate

Cypress, Texas – The Virginia men’s golf team moved up four positions to finish ninth at the Rice Intercollegiate in Cypress, Texas.
Northwestern placed first with a team score of 865, one over par, moving the University of North Texas down into second place with a 883 (+19). The University of Missouri captured the third spot with a 894 (+30). The fourth position was taken by Coastal Carolina with a score of 897 (+33), leaving the University of San Diego in fifth place by one point, 898 (+34).
Northwestern’s Scott Harrington won the individual championship with a 209 (-7). Chris Happ from Missouri followed behind in second place by one shot, 210 (-6). Northwestern’s Tom Johnson shot an even par of 216 for the third position.
Cavalier Freshman Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) fired a 218 (+2) to tie the 4th spot. Tilley shot the best round of the entire tourney with a 67 (-5). Freshman Eamonn McLoughlin (Amityville,N.Y.) shot a 227 (+11) to place 25th. Senior Justin Goodhue (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished 44th with a score of 230 (+14). Junior Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) ranked 51st with a 233 (+17), while Senior Thomas Lee (Gluttenburg, N.J.) finished in 65th with a 243 (+27).
The Cavs next golf tournament will take place February 23-25 at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico.
