BLACKSBURG, VA– – Virginia’s Sharon O’Connor won the 1000m run, just over a second in front of teammate Shannon Hawrylo, as the Cavaliers competed in the first day of the Virginia Tech Challenge. Teammate Eliese Mitchell had the top throw by a collegian, tossing the weight 18.75m, which was the second-best throw of the competition. On the men’s side, Zach Davis led a 3-5 finish for the Cavaliers in the 500m dash, competing the course in 1:04.47, just ahead of teammate John Britt who was .6 seconds behind him.
