CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia baseball team has announced a few changes to its upcoming schedule for games against Penn State and Liberty. The Cavaliers’ three-game series with Penn State, originally scheduled for February 22-23, has been tentatively moved to February 23-24. Virginia was originally scheduled to meet Penn State on Saturday, February 22nd in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM before playing a single game on Sunday, February 23rd starting at 1:00 PM. The series is now tentatively rescheduled for a doubleheader to be played on Sunday, February 23rd at 1:00 PM before a single game on Monday, February 24th beginning at 3:00 PM.

A final decision will be made on the Penn State vs. Virginia series on Saturday, February 22nd as to whether or not Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium will have a playing surface suitable to host the three-game series. Currently, the playing surface at the UVa Baseball Field is covered with snow and the field is saturated with moisture due to the melting snow. UVa officials are waiting to see if the rain expected in the Charlottesville area today will help melt the snow in order to try and prepare the field for suitable playing conditions on Sunday and Monday. If so, the series would follow as mentioned above. If not, the series would most likely be cancelled.

Virginia also had a road game originally scheduled with Liberty on Monday, February 24th at 2:30 PM in Lynchburg, Va. That contest has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 27th at 2:30 PM in Lynchburg, Va.
