This weekend, Kiamesha Otey will travel Boston, MA to compete in the 2003 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the long jump and 60m dash. Held at the Reggie Lewis Center at Roxbury Community College, the Championships are scheduled to begin on Friday, February 28 and end on Sunday, March 2. Otey currently leads the ACC in the long jump, and is tenth in the nation with a provisional qualifying jump of 6.21m. She is also ranked 17th in the nation in the 60m dash with a provisional qualifying time of 7.37. The first round of the 60m dash is scheduled for 2:50pm, Saturday, March 1. The long jump will commence at 1pm Sunday, March 2.

Also, this weekend, four other members will travel to Blacksburg, VA to compete in Virginia Tech’s Last Chance Meet. Vika Osipenko and Eliese Mitchell, both of whom just broke school records, will compete in the pole vault and weight throw events respectively. Osipenko, who leads the women’s team in the pole vault, recently completed a school record-breaking vault of 3.80m. Leading the women’s team in the weight throw and shot put, Eliese Mitchell completed a school record breaking throw of 15.72m in the shot put at the ACC Indoor Championships which also earned her the provisional qualifying 18th rank. She is also ranked 22nd nationally in the weight throw with a provisional qualifying distance of 18.75m.

On the men’s side, McGavock Dunbar and David Sullivan will represent the men’ team in the Last Chance Meet. Dunbar’s team leading time of 1:53.12 in the 800m earned him 4th place at the ACC Indoor Championships. Sullivan, who leads the men’s team in the pole vault, placed 3rd at the ACC’s with a 4.97m vault.
