CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia baseball team has announced several changes and additions to its 2003 regular season schedule. Due to the cancellations of UVa’s three-game series with Penn State and Seton Hall the past two weekends because of inclement weather, the Cavaliers have altered their playing schedule by rescheduling a contest with Radford, adding a game against both Richmond and Navy, and may also possibly add another contest to the schedule later in the week against an opponent to be determined.

The first change to Virginia’s schedule will take place on Sunday, March 2nd when the Cavaliers travel to Radford, Va. to face the Radford Highlanders in a rescheduled non-conference game which is slated to begin at 2:00 PM. The Virginia/Radford game was originally scheduled for March 25 at 3:00 PM. Following the Radford contest, Virginia will travel to Richmond, Va. as originally scheduled on Monday, March 3rd to face the Richmond Spiders. However, instead of playing a single contest against Richmond beginning at 3:00 PM, the Cavaliers and Spiders will now play a doubleheader which is scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon at Pitt Field.

UVa’s home-opening contest with James Madison will remain scheduled for Tuesday, March 4th at 3:00 PM on Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium. But Virginia has added another game to its schedule for Wednesday, March 5th against the U.S. Naval Academy. Wednesday was originally an open date for the Virginia baseball team before UVa filled the date with its contest against Navy. The starting time for that game has yet to be determined. The Cavaliers may also be adding yet another new contest to its schedule on Thursday, March 6th. A location, opponent, date and starting time for that game has also yet to be determined.
