Charlottesville, Va. – The University of Virginia men’s lacrosse team is the second seed in the 16-team field for the 2003 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championships. This marks the 11th consecutive season the Cavaliers have received a bid to the national playoffs and the 27th berth in school history.

The Cavaliers, currently ranked second nationally with an 11-2 overall record, host Mount St. Mary’s (10-7 overall) in a first-round match-up Saturday (May 10) at Kl?ckner Stadium. Game time and ticket information are expected to be announced Monday. The Mount earned its first bid to the national championships by winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship Sunday over St. Joseph’s 8-2.

Virginia has never faced Mount St. Mary’s in lacrosse.

The winner of the Virginia/Mount St. Mary’s game faces the winner of this Sunday’s Georgetown at Rutgers game in the quarterfinals at Towson University on Sunday (May 18).

Semifinals:
Saturday, May 24 (at Ravens Stadium, Baltimore)-Game 1 at 11:30 a.m.; game 2 is 45 minutes after conclusion of first
