WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Virginia women’s rowing team’s “A,” “B,” and “C” boats finished first, fourth and tenth, respectively, in the Georgetown Novice Regatta on Sunday (Nov. 2). The competition was held on the Potomac River against Georgetown University and George Washington University.

Virginia’s “A” boat won the regatta and was made up of coxswain Katie Hilton, Annemarie Pitts, Valerie Morini, Laura Elizares, Vicki Moore, Laura Plummer, Jamie Hertig, Amelia Gunn and Kim Southern. The UVa “A” boat was followed by the Georgetown “A” crew in second place and the George Washington “A” boat in third place.

The Cavalier “B” boat took fourth place and was manned by coxswain Rebecca Crabtree, Kat Womack, Leslie Breen, Michelle Johansen, Lauren Fluhart, Anne Pierson, Kendall Gallagher, Maria Takahashi and Kate Mullin.

UVa’s “C” crew finished in tenth place. The boat was comprised of coxswain Victoria Negrete, Kristen Bailey, Lee Watson, Carey Davis, Molly Seltzer, Katie Nielsen, Lyndsay Orwig, Mary St. Germaine and Diane Pletcher.

The next competition for the UVa women’s rowing team will be on November 16 when Virginia hosts the Rivanna Romp at the Rivanna Reservoir. Among the schools scheduled to compete are Cincinnati, Duke, Ohio State, Tennessee and Buffalo. The Rivanna Romp is the first home regatta and the final regatta of the fall season for the Virginia women.
