Men's Tennis to Host UVa Open This Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team will host the UVa Open this weekend at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The event will feature a singles and doubles draw and will run from Friday through Sunday.
The singles draw is headlined by Andrew Carlson, currently ranked No. 854 in the world, who is playing unattached. Carlson was a collegiate standout at Ohio State. The No. 2-4 seeds are all ranked in the top 100 of the current collegiate rankings. The No. 2 seed is Virginia’s Doug Stewart. The 2003 ACC Freshman of the Year opened this fall ranked No. 26 nationally. Andreas Laulund of Virginia Tech and Izak Van der Merwe of Old Dominion are ranked No. 57 and No. 75 respectively.
The tournament begins Friday afternoon at the Boar’s Head Sports Club and admission is free.
