CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team continues its five-game road swing with a stop at Long Island on Friday, Dec. 5. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. WINA Radio (1070 AM) will broadcast the game on the radio and on the web at www.VirginiaSports.com.
The Blackbirds, under the guidance of second-year head coach Stephanie Gaitley, stand 1-3 after a 66-63 loss at Columbia. Sophomore guard Amber Wirth averages 14.0 ppg, while sophomore Erin Pinchbeck adds 14.0 ppg.
Virginia leads the all-time series with Long Island, 2-0. Last season in Charlottesville, UVa claimed a 57-46 win. The squads first met in New Orleans on Dec. 28, 2001, with the Hoos winning 73-40.
Virginia, under the guidance of 27th-year head coach Debbie Ryan, stands 2-3 overall. The Cavaliers finished fourth at the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Hawaii following a 74-63 loss to Hartford on Sunday.
