CHARLOTTESVILLE – Charles W. “Chuck” Noe, a 1946 graduate of the University of Virginia who went on to a successful coaching and broadcasting career, died in Richmond, Va., on Monday (Dec. 8). He was 79.

Noe, a native of Louisville, Ky., played both basketball and baseball at Virginia, earning All-State honors three times in both sports. After coaching at Madison County and Hopewell High Schools, Noe coached basketball at VMI, Virginia Tech, South Carolina and Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also served as athletics director.

After leaving coaching, he went on to a successful broadcasting career at WRVA Radio in Richmond. Noe hosted the Cavalier Call-In Shows in football and men’s basketball for 14 years.
