CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 7 seed Virginia Cavaliers open play at the 27th Annual ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, March 6 against No. 2 seed North Carolina at 2:30 p.m. The Regional Sports Network (Comcast, Fox Sports Net South, Sunshine Network) will televise the game live.

The winner advances to Sunday’s semifinal contest at 3:30 p.m. on Fox Sports Net South. The championship game is slated for Monday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. on Fox Sports Net South. All games will be played at the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum.

The No. 2 seed and 10th-ranked Tar Heels, under the guidance of 18th-year head coach Sylvia Hatchell, stand 21-6 overall after a 70-64 win over Virginia. Camille Little is the team leader with 14.1 ppg and 8.2 rpg, while Ivory Latta adds 13.9 ppg. UNC out-scores its opponents by +16.1 ppg.

Virginia, under the guidance of 27th-year head coach Debbie Ryan, stands 13-15 overall. Junior Brandi Teamer is the Cavalier leader with 12.0 points per game and 5.7 rpg. Junior LaTonya Blue follows with 9.6 ppg and 4.3 apg.

Charlottesville’s WINA Radio (1070 AM) will broadcast each UVa game live on the radio as well as the UVa website at www.VirginiaSports.com (click on the game schedule) with Jed Williams and Myron Ripley calling the action.
