DALLAS – The No. 43 ranked Virginia women’s tennis team had its three-match win streak snapped Tuesday, falling to No. 60 SMU 5-2 in Dallas. The loss drops the Cavaliers record to 9-3 on the season.

SMU took the early lead, 1-0, by taking the doubles point. The Cavalier team of Lauren Bruch (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Mariko Fritz-Krockow (Fairfax, Va.) won at the No. 1 position. However, the Mustangs won at No. 2 and No. 3 to clinch the point and take the early advantage.

In singles, the Cavaliers needed to take four singles matches to secure the dual match, but were only able to take two matches. Sisters Marta and Dora Bechliwanis posted wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, but the Mustangs won the other four matches to clinch the match

The Cavaliers continue their spring break trip to Texas on Wednesday, as they visit TCU.
