GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Virginia freshman Leah Wigger (Louisville, Ky.) fired the first hole-in-one of her collegiate career on Tuesday during the final round of the the Lady Gator Invitational.

“I decided to hit a 8-iron,” Wigger said following the tourney. “The ball landed right on the green and then trickled in. I didn’t see it though.”

“I was with her on the hole,” head coach Jan Mann said. “(On the hole) before that, Leah had a double bogey. Coming back with the hole-in-one was tremendous. It was a well-struck shot. It’s great that it went in.”

The Virginia women finished 14th with a 960 (+120) after firing a 317 in the final round.

ACC rival Duke captured the team title by 33 strokes with a 878 (+38) after firing the best round of the day with a 290. Ohio State took second with a 911 (+71), while Michigan State was third with a 914 (+74).
