The Virginia Cavaliers, fresh off a 2-1 spring break in which they upset then-#3 Maryland and defeated #12 Penn State, were selected by maax as the National Team of the Week. Each week a panel of experts at the company selects a national team of the week in each of the three divisions, honoring the accomplishments of that team for the previous week’s play. The panel also selects a national player of the week.

Virginia captain Morgan Thalenberg was named the National Player of the Week by womenslacrosse.com, leading scorer Amy Appelt was tabbed National Player of the Week by insidelacrosse.com, and Andrea Pfeiffer was named the ACC Player of the Week.

Virginia (4-2, 1-0 ACC) is ranked fifth by both womenslacrosse.com and the IWLCA as well as sixth by insidelacrosse.com. The Cavaliers continue conference play with a game against #12/#13 UNC on Saturday, March 20 in a game at 1:00.
