Virginia’s Amy Appelt and Nikki Lieb were both honored for their work in last week’s victory for the Cavaliers over ACC rival UNC. Virginia was the only conference school to record a win over a top-12 team and was the only ACC school to record a conference victory last week as they defeated then-#12 UNC. Appelt was named to the honor roll by womenslacrosse.com while Lieb was an honorable mention National Player of the Week selection by insidelacrosse.com. Appelt led the Cavaliers in scoring with four goals and two assists, notching her 198th point in the process. Appelt also recorded her seventh consecutive hat trick, setting a school record in the process. Appelt has scored in every game in her collegiate career (48) and leads the Cavaliers with 33 goals and 8 assists in 2004.

Lieb led Virginia with four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers against UNC. She patrolled the midfield and helped the Cavaliers jump out to a 7-0 start in the game. Lieb leads the Cavaliers with 23 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

Virginia hosts UMBC on March 23 and William & Mary on March 25. Game time is 7:00 pm for both contests.
