CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team will host a pair of matches at the Snyder Tennis Center this weekend against highly ranked foes. The Cavaliers (16-1, 5-0 ACC) moved up two spots in the week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings to No. 12, a new school record. This weekend, the team hosts fellow top-20 teams No. 18 North Carolina and No. 14 TCU.

On Saturday, the No. 12 Cavaliers and No. 18 Tar Heels (18-2, 4-0 ACC) battle in a key ACC match at 1:00 p.m. The winner of the match will have an inside track toward the conference regular-season title. Last season, North Carolina topped Virginia 4-3 in Chapel Hill.

On Sunday, Virginia hosts TCU (13-2) at noon. With a Cavalier victory in the match, the No. 14 ranked Horned Frogs would be the highest ranked opponent Virginia has ever beaten, breaking the record set in this year’s season opener when the Cavaliers won at then-No.15 Minnesota. This is the first ever meeting between the schools.

Both matches are scheduled for the Snyder Tennis Center and admission is free. In case of inclement weather, the matches could be moved indoors at Boar’s Head Sports Club. The latest information on any time or location changes can be found at virginiasports.com
