CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s basketball player Alisa Wulff (Pickering, Ontario, Canada) has asked for and been granted a release from the University of Virginia, head coach Debbie Ryan announced on Wednesday.

Wulff will relocate closer to her home in Canada. Her father- Tom Wulff- has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and will need a heart transplant within the next two years, the freshman disclosed.

“I want to thank the University of Virginia, especially the women’s basketball program, for what they’ve done for me,” Wulff said. “However, family is the No. 1 priority in my life, and with my dad being sick, this is something that I have to do.”

“We will really miss Alisa both on and off the court,” Ryan said. “She has been a tremendous asset to our program. We wish Alisa and her family well during these difficult times.”

The 6-1 guard saw action in 25 games with four starts this season.
