Browns Summit, NC – The Virginia women’s golf team shot a 329 (+41) in the final round of the Bryan National Collegiate on Sunday. The Cavaliers finished with a total of 958 (+94) to take 17th place among a field including several of the nation’s top-ranked teams.

Duke claimed its fourth consecutive title in the prestigious event, shooting a final round 298 (+10) to finish the tournament at 869 (+5). ACC rival Wake Forest took second place with a score of 883 (+19), and Vanderbilt rounded out the top three at 887 (+23).

Duke’s Elizabeth Janangelo shot the low round of the day, 70 (-2), to take individual medallist honors at 214 (-2). Vanderbilt’s May Wood finished second at 216 (E). Duke’s Brittany Lang and Oklahoma State’s Karin Sjodin tied for third with a total of 217 (+1).

Cavalier freshman Rachel Smith (Powell, Tenn.) finished at 236 (+20), good for a tie for 59th place. Freshman Lindsay Robinson (Huntington, W.V.) and freshman Sally Shonk (Nobelsville, Ind.) tied for 71st at 240 (+24). Freshman Leah Wigger (Louisville, Ky.) shot 242 (+26) to tie for 76th, while freshman Ashley Mayo (Aventura, Fla.) finished 88th at 252 (+36).

The Cavaliers will be back in action at the ACC Championship, held April 16-18 at Salem Glen Country Club in Clemmons, N.C.
