WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The No. 58 ranked Virginia women’s tennis team opened the final weekend of the regular season by falling to No. 27 Wake Forest 5-2 Saturday at the Leighton Tennis Stadium in Winston-Salem. The loss drops the Cavaliers’ record to 10-11 overall, 1-6 in the ACC.

The Demon Deacons (11-9, 3-4 ACC) took control early by sweeping the three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead. The Cavaliers then needed to win four singles matches to rally in the match, but could only manage two. Kristen James (Clifton, Va.) upset No. 70 Ashlee Davis at No. 2 singles in three sets while Dora Bechliwanis (Etobicoke, Ont.) downed Liz Proctor is traight sets at No. 4.

The Cavaliers will close out the regular season Sunday as they visit No. 71 NC State.
