Virginia Finishes 15th at Intercollegiate

CARY, N.C. – The Virginia men’s golf team finished 15th at the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate on Saturday.
Duke shot an eight-under 280 on the day to capture the team title with a 19-under 845. Kansas, which led the field of 15 after the first two rounds, shot 10-over in the final round to take second with a four-under 860. Minnesota was third with a two-under 862. The Cavaliers shot their best round of the tourney with a 289 to finish with a 889 (+25).
Wake Forest’s Bill Haas took home medalist honors with a with an 15-under 201. Georgia Southern’s Aron Price followed with a eight-under 208, while three players tied for third with a six-under each.
Freshamn Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) shot an even 72 in the final round to pace UVa with a 223 (+7) to tie for 43rd. Senior Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) followed by one stroke with a 224 (+8), while junior Kevin O’Connell (Potomac, Md.) shot s 225 (+9). Sophomores Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Eamonn McLoughlin (Amityville, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring with a 226 (+10) each.
Virginia will participate in the ACC Championship on April 16-18.
