CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia athletics department has sold approximately 1,000 more football season tickets this year as compared to the same stage of last year’s record-setting sale. Virginia established a football season ticket sales record of 36,225 for the 2003 season.

New season ticket holders make up about 1,500 tickets of the 16,768 season tickets sold to this point, according to Dick Mathias, assistant athletics director for ticket office management.

For the first time this year, Virginia fans can order season tickets online. Sales by that means have made up about 40 percent of the current total. Individuals interested in that method of ordering can do so by visiting Virginia’s official athletics web site atvirginiasports.com. Season tickets can also be ordered by calling the Virginia athletics ticket office at 1-800-542-8821.

Virginia’s 2004 football season ticket is priced at $205 for six home games.

Interested fans are encouraged to order season tickets by the April 30 priority deadline to maximize their seating location.
