CHARLOTTESVILLE – Rod Jensen, an assistant coach with the University of Virginia men’s basketball program the last two years, has resigned his position to pursue other professional opportunities.

Jensen spent seven years as the head coach at Boise State University before joining the Virginia staff in July of 2002. His Boise State teams compiled a record of 109-93 and he ranks second in wins among the program’s head basketball coaches. Before being named head coach, he spent 12 years as an assistant coach at Boise State and helped the team advance to the NCAA Tournament three times (1988, 1993 and 1994).

A 1975 graduate of the University of the Redlands with a B.A. in business administration, Jensen began his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater. He served as an assistant coach for two seasons from 1980 to 1982 before moving on to Penn State University for one season (1982-83).

Jensen’s resignation is effective immediately.
