CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia softball team will wrap up regular season competition by playing a single game against in-state rival Virginia Tech Tuesday (April 27) at Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Cavaliers enter the contest against Virginia Tech riding a season-best nine-game winning streak and stand at 38-23 on the season. The Hokies are 33-19 this season. The two teams split a doubleheader in Charlottesville earlier this season on March 24. UVa won the first game 2-0, but the Hokies rebounded for a 5-2 win in the nightcap. Virginia Tech leads the all-time series 8-7.

Virginia won all eight of its games last week and outscored their opponents 67-18. The Cavaliers pounded out 97 hits in the eight games in raise their team batting average 20 points from .279 to .299.

After the Virginia Tech game, the Cavaliers have a two-week layoff before competing in the 2004 ACC Tournament May 14-16 in Tallahassee, Fla.
