Washington, D.C. – University of Virginia goalkeeper Tillman Johnson is one of 15 men’s lacrosse players selected as candidates for the fourth annual Tewaaraton Trophy, given each year to the top player in the country.

Johnson, a senior from Annapolis, Md., was named the USILA Player of the Year last season after guiding the Cavaliers to the national championship. In addition, he was named the Goalie of the Year. This season he was named All-ACC for the third time, the first goalie in league history named three times. He has a .591 save percentage this season and is allowing 9.01 goals per game. He has 683 career saves, tops in school history and fourth in ACC history.

Five players will be selected from the list of 15 candidates and will be named trophy finalists. The trophy will be presented in Washington, DC, on June 3, 2004 at a banquet honoring the finalists and trophy winners. The ceremony will be held at the National Geographic Society Auditorium and broadcast by CSTV.
