GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Virginia men’s swimming and diving team has received the 2003-2004 Atlantic Coast Conference Sportsmanship Award, along with Florida State, for that sport. The Cavaliers won the ACC Swimming and Diving title for the sixth consecutive year.
The conference presents sportsmanship awards for each of its 25 sponsored sports. The ACC Student Athlete Advisory Committee created the awards in an effort to recognize teams that earned the utmost regard from their peers during competition. Teams receiving the award have conducted themselves with a high degree of character and good sportsmanship, as determined by a vote of the conference’s teams.
In addition to winning its school record sixth consecutive ACC team title, UVa went on to finish 13th at the 2004 NCAA Championships. The Cavaliers were also 10-1 in dual meet competition.
