‘HOOS UP NEXT?: Virginia (36-9, 14-4 ACC) is set to face the Florida State Seminoles (29-17, 8-7 ACC) on May 7-9 at Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium. UVa and FSU are scheduled to meet on Friday, May 7th at 7:00 PM, Saturday, May 8th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, May 9th at 1:00 PM.

LAST TIME THEY MET: Florida State defeated Virginia three games to none when the Seminoles swept the Cavaliers the last time the two schools met on March 14-16 in 2003 in Tallahassee, Florida. FSU defeated UVa 9-1 on March 14th, 4-0 on March 15th and 5-4 on March 16th.

UVA’S PROBABLE PITCHING FOR VIRGINIA VS. FLORIDA STATE: Virginia is expected to throw its usual weekend rotation this weekend (May 7-9) when the Cavaliers host the Florida State Seminoles in a three-game ACC series at Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium. UVa is expected to go with Andrew Dobies (LHP, 6-1, 2.13 ERA, 80 K) on Friday, Matt Avery (RHP, 4-2, 2.85 ERA, 37 K) on Saturday and Joe Koshansky (LHP, 7-1, 2.45 ERA, 62 K) on Sunday. Florida State is expected to counter with Rhett James (RHP, 5-2, 3.22 ERA, 63 K) on Friday, Brian Schultz (LHP, 5-0, 2.50 ERA, 42 K) on Saturday and a pitcher to be determined on Sunday.

NEVER SAY NEVER: Virginia will be setting out to do something it has never done before in baseball – sweep the Florida State Seminoles in an ACC series. Florida State is the only ACC school that Virginia has not swept in an ACC series in Charlottesville. FSU is also one of only three schools along with Clemson and North Carolina that UVa has not swept in an ACC series on the road.

CARDIAC CAVALIERS HAVE CLAIMED 14 COMEBACK/PULL-OUT VICTORIES THIS SEASON: The University of Virginia baseball team is enjoying one of its best seasons ever in the history of the program. The Cavaliers have played a total of 45 games, with 36 of those 45 contests resulting in a UVa victory. Of those 36 victories, 14 of the wins were either recorded with a late inning comeback or by breaking a tie ball game late in the contest. Virginia has won nine games by comeback and five more games by pulling out a tie contest in either the eighth, ninth or extra innings. UVa has also won 10 of the 12 one-run games it has played in this season.
