CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia baseball team currently stands 40-11 overall, 18-6 in the ACC. The Cavaliers have two remaining regular season contests left on their schedule, a pair of non-conference games against the Liberty Flames on Tuesday, May 18th in Lynchburg and Wednesday, May 19th in Charlottesville, before heading to Salem, Va. to compete in the 2004 ACC Baseball Tournament on May 25-30 at the Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Virginia will face Liberty on Tuesday, May 18th at 3:00 PM in its final regular season road game before closing out its regular season all together with a regular season finale contest against Liberty on Wednesday, May 19th at 7:00 PM at Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium.

Following its home-and-home series with Liberty, UVa will then have to wait and see how the final weekend of ACC competition plays out to determine where it will be seeded in the ACC Tournament which begins on May 25th. The only series that will have an impact on Virginia’s seeding in the ACC Tournament is the Georgia Tech vs. Maryland series which will be played in Aberdeen, Md. on May 21-23.

Georgia Tech currently stands 15-5 in the ACC and is tied with Virginia (18-6) for winning percentage in the conference at .750. If Georgia Tech loses one of its three games with Maryland, UVa will receive the #1 seed. If Georgia Tech sweeps Maryland or even wins just one or two games without losing a contest (if the series is impacted by weather), the Yellow Jackets would get the #1 seed and the Cavaliers would receive the #2 seed.

If Virginia is awarded the #1 seed, the Cavaliers would face the winner of the #8 vs. #9 contest (which is scheduled to be played on May 25th) on Wednesday, May 26th at 1:30 PM. If UVa is awarded the #2 seed, it would play the #7 seeded team on Wednesday, May 26th at 5:00 PM.
