Kellen Blassingame Qualifies for Finals of 400m Dash

Virginia’s Kellen Blassingame, the school record holder in the 400m dash, qualified for the finals of the NCAA East Regional in that event, running a 46.77 and winning his heat in the preliminary rounds. The top five finishers in the event will qualify for the NCAA Championships which will be held June 9-12 in Austin, Texas.
Teammate Jason Young also ran in the regional meet, running just behind Blassingame with a 47.63. Two other men’s team members also ran in the meet, with McGavock Dunbar running a 1:52.73 in the 800m run while first year Alex Tatu competed in the 1500m run, finishing with a 3:51.32.
Two women competed in East Regional meet as well, with Sharon O’Connor running a 4:33.82 in the 1500m run and Erin Crawford running a 60.69 in the 400 intermediate hurdles.
