Virginia’s Inge Jorgensen, the reigning ACC champion in the javelin, won her second consecutive major championship this year with her title in the East Regional meet, throwing a 164′ 2″. With the win, Jorgensen has qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will take place in Austin, Texas on June 9-12. Teammate Meggie Schuelke, competing in her first NCAA regional outdoor competition, won the jump-off and finished in sixth overall with her highest jump of the year at 5′ 9.25″. Kellen Blassingame also finished sixth, running a 46.49 in the 400m dash.

Rachel Marks also competed in the high jump and cleared 5′ 8.5″. Fourth-year Caroline Harvey leapt over 20′ for the first time this year, going 20′ .25″, but her effort came with a wind of 4.4 m/s. Tomika Ferguson also competed in the horizontal jumps, clearing 39′ 9.75″ in the triple jump.
