CHARLOTTESVILLE – Cavalier Sports Marketing (CSM), a division of Viacom Outdoor Sports Marketing and the marketing partner of the University of Virginia athletics department, announced Friday (July 16) that Brock A. Petrie has been named general manager of CSM. Cavalier Sports Marketing has been the marketing partner of the Virginia athletics department since 1998 and Petrie has been with the organization since that time. He has served as director of sales and most recently as business operations manager.

“I am very pleased to be named general manager of Cavalier Sports Marketing,” Petrie said. “The University of Virginia and Charlottesville are very special, and my family and I are very happy here. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the Virginia athletics department and Cavalier Sports Marketing as we move into a new era with the expanded Atlantic Coast Conference and the John Paul Jones Arena.”

Cavalier Sports Marketing manages, with the support and input of the Virginia athletics department, the marketing assets of the department. The marketing assets include the Virginia Sports Radio Network, on-premise signage and video, the GameDay magazine, and virginiasports.com, the official internet site for Virginia athletics.

In addition to the announcement of Petrie as general manager, Cavalier Sports Marketing also announced the appointment of Mark Payne as senior account executive for the organization. Payne is a graduate of Stetson University who has worked at Georgia Tech and most recently at the University of Richmond. He served as director of corporate partnerships for Spider Sports Marketing at Richmond.
