GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Virginia freshman guard Sean Singletary was second in the voting for Atlantic Coast Conference pre-season Rookie of the Year at the 43rd annual ACC Operation Basketball on October 31. Media representatives attending the event did the voting.

Singletary, a 6-0 point guard from Philadelphia, Pa., finished second to Marvin Williams of North Carolina in the voting for ACC pre-season Rookie of the Year. Williams finished with 60 votes followed by Singletary (7) and DeMarcus Nelson of Duke (5). Eight other players received votes.

Wake Forest was the top pick in the media’s pre-season poll of the teams in the ACC. Following the Demon Deacons were North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Duke, North Carolina State, Maryland, Florida State, Virginia, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Miami.
