Men's Golf Stands Fourth at Turtle Bay

KAHUKU, Hawaii – The Virginia men’s golf team stands fourth of 19 teams after the first round of the University of Hawaii’s Turtle Bay Intercollegiate on Monday.
UNLV holds a one stroke lead, shooting a two-under 286. Central Oklahoma and UC Riverside are tied for second with a one-under 287 each. The Cavaliers are fourth with a 289 (+1).
UC Riverside’s Brendan Steele fired a five-under 67 to lead all players. Hawaii’s Cody Wolfenbarger and UNLV’s Travis Whisman follow with a three-under 69 each.
Sophomore Mark Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) is the top Cavalier with a two-under 70 to tie for fourth. Senior Kevin O’Connell (Potomac, Md.) followed with an even 72 to tie for 11th. Junior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) shot a 73 (+1), while sophomore Dan McGurk (Woodlands, Tex.) shot a 74 (+2). Junior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) rounded out the UVa scoring with a 79 (+7).
