Women's Basketball Announces Captains

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia women’s basketball team has elected four team captains for the 2004-05 season, head coach Debbie Ryan announced on Wednesday prior to departing for Louisiana.

Selected by their teammates were senior LaTonya Blue (Baltimore, Md.), senior Kate Kreager (Oak Hill, Va.), senior Jocelyn Logan-Friend (Cheverly, Md.), and junior Tiffany Sardin (Chicago, Ill.).

The honor is the first for Blue and Logan-Friend. Kreager and Sardin also served as team captains last season.

The Cavaliers open the 2004-05 campaign against Arizona State at the Women’s Sports Foundation Classic in Baton Rouge on Thursday, Nov. 11. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. CT/6 p.m. ET. WINA (1070 AM) will broadcast all the Cavaliers’ games on the radio as well as the UVa website.
