Virginia cross country athletes Emily Harrison and Soeren Lindner were selected to compete as individuals at the 2004 NCAA Cross Country Championships, which will take place on Monday, Nov. 22. Harrison and Lindner were chosen as a result of their performances at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday (Nov. 13) in Greenville, N.C.

Harrison, who has been the Cavaliers’ top runner for the women’s team all season, was the top rookie across the line when she finished sixth in her first NCAA Regional meet. Her All-Region performance was her second honor in as many meets as she also earned All-Conference honors at the ACC Championships on October 31.

Lindner earned his first trip to the NCAA Championships with his ninth-place finish at the Regional, just edging teammate Will Christian, who finished two seconds behind Lindner in tenth. Lindner also earned his first All-Regional performance at the meet in Greenville.

Indiana State University will host the 2004 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships, November 22, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center, Terre Haute, Indiana. The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern time followed by the men’s race at 12:15 p.m.
