GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Virginia freshman Sean Singletary is the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball Rookie of the Week for his play in Virginia’s victories over Robert Morris University and the University of Arizona last week.

The 6-0 point guard from Philadelphia, Pa., started both games and led the Cavaliers in assists and steals in each game. He scored 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds, had 15 assists and nine steals in the two games. He shot 50 percent (8-16) from the field and 80 percent (4-5) from the free throw line.

In UVa’s 88-55 victory over Robert Morris (Nov. 19), Singletary had game-high totals of seven assists and three steals, while scoring six points and grabbing three rebounds in 25 minutes of action.

In the Cavaliers’ 78-60 win over nationally-ranked Arizona (Nov. 21), Singletary had game-high totals of eight assists and six steals, while scoring 15 points with six rebounds in 30 minutes of playing time.

Wake Forest’s Chris Paul was named the ACC men’s basketball Player of the Week.
