CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia wrestling team will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to face the Virginia Tech Hokies in an Atlantic Coast Conference dual match on Friday, December 10th at 7:00 PM at VT’s Cassell Coliseum. Virginia (2-1) will square off against Virginia Tech (6-1) in the first conference match for both schools this season.

The Cavaliers trail the Hokies in the all-time series history 30-32-1. However, UVa has won the last two meetings between the two schools. Virginia defeated Virginia Tech 31-8 in the most recent match-up on January 31, 2004 in Charlottesville. UVa also defeated VT in the last meeting in Blacksburg when the Cavaliers came away with an 18-16 victory over the Hokies on February 1, 2003.

The two teams have only lost a combined two matches in the early going this season, with both losses coming against ranked opponents. Virginia has defeated Appalachian State (25-21) and Findlay (35-6) and lost to #19 Edinboro (26-6) this season. Virginia Tech has defeated VMI (36-6), James Madison (46-3), Anderson (47-3), Appalachian State (27-18), Gardner Webb (38-9) and Cumberland (54-6) and lost to #23 Tennessee-Chattanooga (32-13) this year.
