GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Virginia swimmer Luke Anderson (Charlottesville, Va./Bolles School) has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week as announced Monday (January 31). Anderson shares the award with Florida State’s Billy Jamerson. It marks the third consecutive week and the fifth time this season Anderson has been the recipient of the award. He has received the award a record 11 times during his career.

Anderson posted a pair of individual victories in the 10th-ranked Virginia men’s 128-113 loss to third-ranked Florida January 28 in Gainesville, Fla. The loss was the Cavaliers’ first dual meet defeat of the season as they fall to 8-1 in 2004-05.

Anderson recorded NCAA “B” times in winning the 100 and 200 freestyle events against the Gators. He beat South African gold medalist Darian Townsend in the 100 free with a time of 44.44. Townsend was a member of South Africa’s gold-medal winning 400 freestyle relay. In the 200 freestyle, Anderson clocked an ACC season-best time of 1:38.02.

Virginia closes out its dual meet season this weekend against Maryland and Duke. The Cavaliers host Maryland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (February 5) at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center. Virginia closes out its dual meet season on Sunday (February 6) when it hosts Duke at noon. The diving portion of the meet will begin at 10:30 a.m.
