CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 9 ranked Virginia men’s tennis team concludes its season-opening five-match homestand this weekend with a pair of matches at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. On Friday night, the Cavaliers host No. 36 Alabama at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, Virginia hosts No. 70 Indiana at 2:00 p.m.

The Cavaliers (3-0) are coming of a 6-1 win over No. 22 Tennessee last Saturday at Boar’s Head. Virginia has captured 20 of the possible 21 points in their first three matches, all wins over ranked opponents.

Virginia is paced by a school-record five players currently ranked in singles by the ITA. Doug Stewart (Malibu, Calif.) is ranked No. 19, Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) is No. 22, Rylan Rizza (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) is No. 36, Marko Miklo (Bratislava, Slovakia) is No. 63, and Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) is No. 104.

Next week, the Cavaliers travel to Chicago for the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The 16-team field for the four-day event includes 15 of the top 25 teams in the country.
